To Drift tells the story of a being that floats atop a world of ocean. As a deep emptiness began creeping over it, it decided to take a chance and swim deep enough to know whether the vast depths are truly all there is. It swam until it could no more. A current began pulling the being downward and it lost consciousness. It awakened, startled, to drips atop its form. Drips!? It had fallen from the ocean! This was land - dry land! And so the traveler learned to crawl, and to ride the wind through dry space just as it did the ocean currents.
